I believe that each person’s path to healing and well-being is unique. We all develop ways of interacting with our world based on individual experiences. Eventually, some of these ways stop working and they may even make us feel worse. Together we will identify patterns, and ways of thinking and interacting that no longer work for you. We will then identify positive, strength-based alternatives. I use techniques primarily based on Humanistic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness.

I have been a counselor for over 18 years. I have worked in a state inpatient facility, in a large community mental health and substance abuse treatment facility, and most recently in a college counseling center. I have provided counseling, assessments, and emergency interventions in each of these settings. I draw from my years of training and experience to offer counseling tailored to each person’s preferences and treatment goals. I work to provide a calm, welcoming, safe space. I sometimes use humor to provide gentle challenges as we move through the counseling process. I particularly enjoy working with people who are recovering from trauma, grief, and mood issues such as depression and anxiety. I have a strong interest in working with individuals who are adjusting to life’s many transitions, including young adults just starting college, living away from home, relationship changes and personal identity exploration.

I am thrilled to bring my professional experiences into private practice and look forward to hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or to schedule a free consultation to see if we are a good fit for each other.
